CHELSEA STRUGGLING

Chelsea suffered from a 1-0 loss against Basel when they played in this week at Switzerland, but despite failing to claim any points, the Premier League side still advances into the knockout stages of the Champions League because of Schalke’s draw with the Russian side Steau Bucharest, with the home side winning the game late on thanks to Mohamed Salah’s goal.

Jose Mourinho was quick to respond to his critics and the bashing he received after suffering from that rather surprising loss.

“A bad performance, a deserved defeat – but because of other results we qualify mathematically and that is the only positive thing for this night that we qualify for last 16,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“Now we have to get a result at home to finish first, so that is the only positive thing.”

“I didn’t like it from the first minute, we started with a defensive mistake immediately, the first time we were in the game we made a defensive mistake – I think we only had a little bit of stability and control in second-half but I felt the team was tired.”

Porto’s Jackson Martinez is a target of Chelsea and it is believed that they are preparing a £30 million move for the 27 years old player. The player of Porto is considered to be a backup option for Jose Mourinho just in case they fail on luring Radamel Falcao from PSG in the next transfer window.

Chelsea will be making as many transfers as possible to fill in the weaknesses they have been suffering in this season hoping to continue their title charge as they are putting the pressure on the leaders of the Premier League Arsenal who only are 3 points ahead of them.
