KOMPANY KEEN ON CAPTAINCY

The captain of Manchester City, Vincent Kompany, has said that he wants to continue captaining the Manchester City team for many years. Kompany has proved to be a successful captain for the Manchester City team so far. City had won the Premier League title in the last season under his captaincy and the team is going well in this season as well.

Kompany had led the team from the front in the last season. He had put up a number of fantastic performances and was named as the Premier League player of the season.

During the pre season transfer window, there were speculations that Kompany wanted to play in the La Liga and he might be leaving City. But, Kompany ended those speculations by signing a new six year deal with City at the start of the season.

When asked whether he wants to play in the La Liga, Kompany said, “I am pretty happy playing for City and I am not looking for other options at the moment. There is no chance of me leaving City in the near future.”

“I am really enjoying my captaincy. It has made me more mature as a player in the last two years.

When asked about him being considered as one of the best captains that Manchester City has ever had, Kompany said, “It’s the team which makes a captain good or bad. If you haven’t got a good team, you can’t be a successful captain. I am lucky to have got a very strong side.”

When asked about City’s two defeats in the last three matches, Kompany said, “The match against Madrid was very close and we were unfortunate to have lost that match. But, our performance against Aston Villa was disappointing. It’s a wakeup call for us and we will definitely bounce back in the upcoming matches.”
