BURNLEY EYEING FIRST WIN IN THREE

Burnley are eyeing a first win in three English Championship games ahead of their trip to face Coventry City who are at the foot of the 24-team table in the second tier of English club football. Coventry City will play hosts to manager Vincent Kompany and his Burnley players who are hoping to return to winning ways after two successive draws.

The target for Vincent Kompany is to get Burnley back into the Premier League after one season in the Championship, but the situation has not been helped by two straight draws. The Clarets were a Premier League club before they suffered demotion at the end of last season alongside Norwich City and Watford.

Vincent Kompany and his players are unbeaten in their last ten matches in all competitions and last nine matches in the league, but the draws have been very harmful as they have consistently struggled to hold on to leads.Burnley have not lost a game since 10-man Watford won 1-0 in a Championship clash on August 12.

The current sequence of two draws for Burnley started after the 2-1 win at home to Bristol City just before the September international break. The first of the two draws was a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City. After a goalless affair in the first 45 minutes, Southampton loanee Nathan Tella gave the Clarets the lead three minutes into the second half. Tella is presently on loan at Burnley from Premier League side Southampton. He was on the way to being the recipient of the winning goal before Irish striker Callum Robinson scored the Cardiff City equaliser on the stroke of fulltime with little time for Vincent Kompany and his players to react.

The 1-1 draw at Cardiff City on Saturday was followed by the 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City on Wednesday. Conor Roberts scored the Burnley goal during the game.
