Focus on: Vincent Kompany

Vincent Jean Mpoy Kompany was born on the 10 April 1986 and is a Belgian footballer who plays for the Belgian National Football Team and Manchester City. He plays as both centres back and defensive mid fielder. He was awarded the captaincy of Manchester City F.C in the 2011-2012 seasons. Vincent Kompany also became the Premier League’s best centre back and got included in the 2010-11 Premier League Team of the Year. He has also been nominated to the FIFPro team of the year 2011. He is also one of Manchester City’s priced possessions.

Kompany had started his professional career at Anderlecht, and spent three years at the Belgian Club before moving to German club Hamburger SV in 2006. At the age of twenty-two, in 2008, he transferred to his current club, Premier League side Manchester City.

Vincent Kompany is officially FIFA ambassador for registered charity SOS Children’s Villages. He has also invested in and has been engaged in projects which aim to provide an education and safe living accommodation for children living in poverty. Vincent married Carla on 11 June 2011, and has a daughter, Sienna Kompany, born on June 10, 2010.

At Anderlecht Vincent achieved a number awards including the Belgian Ebony Shoe and the Belgian Golden Shoe. In the year 2006 he moved on to Hamburger SV which was a German club and gained some more quality experience which has helped him further his career and become a strong player. He made it through the selection of 30-man provisional squad for the under-21 Football Championship of UEFA European in the year 2007 even after suffering an injury which cost him half a season.
He joined his present Premier League Club in 2008 when he was twenty-two. He has played extraordinarily for his current club and has signed a new five-year deal with the club Manchester Untied which has promised his stay until the year 2014.

was recently in news when his limousine company faced police prosecution after being accused of ferrying Manchester City’s squad worth £300million around without proper insurance.
