Vincent Kompany is confident that Manchester City will make some two or three world-class signings

After finishing last season without any major title, defender Vincent Kompany is confident that Manchester City will make some two or three world-class signings in this transfer window in order to reclaim the title once again.

Since UEFA has lifted a number of the FFP regulations, City are free to spend as they please in this transfer window. They have already shown their ambition by making a £ 40 million offer for Raheem Sterling, while more English players are expected to arrive in order to compensate for the loss of players like James Milner and Frank Lampard.

Kompany had a disappointing season last time around by his high standards. The Belgian defender is keen to address this issue and he hopes that the niggling injuries that he faced last season are beyond him. As he enters into his 30s, Kompany will know that staying injury free is not a luxury but a necessity if he is to prolong his career as a top defender. City have never won back-to-back league titles, but they also come back with a vengeance after just losing one. This was a case during the 2013-14 season and Kompany reckons that the blues can repeat it once again.

Vincent Kompany gets disheartened in Premier League

Chelsea might be getting too far ahead in the Premier League title race, but, the Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has not got disheartened at all.

The Belgian is taking heart from the fact that City has come from behind and overtaken the table leaders to win the league a couple of times in the recent years.

He is quite confident that his boys can do it again.

The previous season, Liverpool had 9 points more than City with just three weeks remaining in the season.

The Sky Blues turned it all around from that position. So, they have every right to believe that they can nullify this 5-point lead of Chelsea as well.

Manuel Pellegrini wont bring Vincent back anytime soon

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that he does not plan to bring captain Vincent Kompany back to the first-team match earlier than expected.

The Belgian international has been plagued by injury problems this campaign. He is seen as one of the best central defenders in Premier League right now, but he has featured in only 13 league matches so far. He is yet to open his scoring account for the season. Apart from missing league matches, Kompany has also missed cup matches like League Cup action.

His last appearance came in the 1-0 win over Leicester City, but he failed to complete the 90 minutes after having to be taken off in the 77th minute due to a reoccurrence of the injury. Given that he has already missed several matches this season, Pellegrini says that he is prepared to giveKompany sufficient time in order to come back. It is looking highly unlikely that the 28-year-old will be available for the key Christmas fixture schedule. Compared with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, City have a much kinder list as they will be facing teams at the bottom like West Brom and Burnley.

“It’s very difficult to be absolutely out of the problem with muscle injuries. He’ll try to play again as soon as he can. But the doctor, the player and me will have the last word to see if he can.We will see during the week along with Jovetic whether they can be fit for Friday. It’s difficult. It is important especially when you play so many games like this year when we have to look at the amount of players we have in our squad, you need multi-faceted players,” said Pellegrini, who is already facing a lot of injuries with players like Aguero and Edin Dzeko also on the sidelines.
